My book club mentor was right about pacing, and I fought it for months
Back in March, our club founder Linda told me to slow down and not rush through the middle sections of a novel. I ignored her because I thought I could speed read and still catch everything. Then last month we did a 500 page historical fiction pick and I finished it in two sittings, but I mixed up two minor characters during our debate and felt silly. Linda just smiled and said pacing is about letting the story breathe, not about winning the discussion. Has anyone else gotten advice from a long time member that you only appreciated after it backfired on you?

Yep, same thing happened to me with note taking. Slowed way down after that.
