The great debate over audiobook narrators killing the mood
I'm in two book clubs and the last three meetings we've argued about whether the narrator's voice actually ruins a good book. My group in Portland kept saying a monotone reader is fine if the story is strong, but I swear I stopped listening to a thriller halfway through because the guy sounded like he was narrating a documentary on grass growing. Why does everyone act like the narrator doesn't matter as much as the author? Has anyone else bailed on a book solely because the voice just didn't fit the characters?

Started skipping ahead to find the good parts when the narrator bored me, then just gave up and read the ebook instead. @park.tara, my group finally settled it by picking books with different narrators each month so we could compare, and honestly it changed everything. A boring voice can kill a great story, no question.
