TIL our book club almost picked a 900 page fantasy book over a short story collection

We had to vote between 'The Priory of the Orange Tree' and 'Her Body and Other Parties'. I pushed for the short stories because I knew half our group wouldn't finish the big one. It worked, and our talk about 'The Husband Stitch' was way more lively. What's the biggest book your group has tried to tackle?

Good call dodging that 900 page doorstop. My old group tried 'Infinite Jest' once and it was a bloodbath. We spent the whole meeting just trying to figure out what was happening in the first 200 pages. Never again.
