I finally upgraded from a basic foam pad to a Therm-a-Rest NeoAir Xlite for my 3-day backpacking trip in the Adirondacks.

The weight and pack size difference was huge, but the real game-changer was waking up without any hip pain for the first time, so what other sleeping pads do you guys recommend for side sleepers?

My Nemo Tensor is the only pad that's ever worked for my side sleeping.

Always thought side sleepers needed thicker pads, but you just changed my mind.

Totally get that, it's a huge relief to find a pad that works. I had the same hip pain issue until I switched to an insulated Tensor, which @laurac38 is right about, the thickness really helps. The key for me was the 3-inch depth and that horizontal baffle design, it just doesn't bottom out.
