Looking at my old gear pile from a trip to the Redwoods in 2021
Back then I had a huge, heavy canvas tent that took forever to dry out. Now my pack holds a simple one person shelter that sets up in under five minutes. Anyone else keep a piece of old gear around just to remember how far things have come?

That was 2021, not exactly ancient history. Gear was already pretty light back then.

Oh man, I'm the one still hauling a canvas tent around like it's 1995, not 2021. My backpacking setup weighs as much as a small car because I refuse to give up my "vintage" gear. I've got a 4 pound tent that's basically a tarp with delusions of grandeur. At this rate, my knees are gonna file a formal complaint.

Wait, a canvas tent in 2021? That's wild... I thought those were long gone by then.
