Showerthought: People keep buying the biggest tent they can carry
I used a tiny 2-person tent on a 5-day trip and slept better than ever because I wasn't in a wind tunnel. Everyone seems to think more space equals more comfort, but a smaller tent is warmer and quieter. Anyone else find they actually prefer a cozy shelter?

Ever tried sharing a tiny tent with a snorer?

Oh man, joseph455, that's the worst. It's not just the noise, it's the whole tent shaking with every snore. You're trying to sleep on a tiny air mattress and it feels like small earthquakes. I ended up just staring at the tent ceiling for hours, listening to it echo. Makes you want to just go sleep in the car.

Did you ever actually try the car though? I used to be one of those people who thought "oh it's fine, you just get used to it" but after one particularly rough night in a two person tent with my cousin I completely changed my tune. That was the night I learned that earplugs don't block out the kind of snoring that makes the ground vibrate. I ended up spending the last three hours of darkness sitting in the front seat with my feet up on the dashboard, totally defeated. Now I'm the first person to suggest someone just bail and sleep in the vehicle, no shame in it at all.
