TIL the $12 headlamp I bought at a gas station in Flagstaff outlasted my $60 one on a 4 night trip
Went camping near Flagstaff last October and my fancy $60 headlamp died on night two, just flat out quit. The cheap $12 one I grabbed at a gas station on the way up ran all four nights on the same batteries. I tested both at home after and the cheap one still works fine while the expensive one never turned back on. I keep reading reviews that say you get what you pay for but that trip made me question the whole thing. Now I want to know if anyone else has had a cheap backup piece of gear beat their main one. What is the cheapest thing you own that refuses to die?
