Warning: That hyped up ultralight tent wasn't worth it for me...

I bought a $400 ultralight tent everyone raves about for a 3 day trip in the Smokies, but after one windy night it felt flimsy and loud compared to my old 6 pound dome tent. The weight savings were nice on the trail but not worth the constant worrying about a tear or bent pole. Has anyone else tried one of these lighter setups and just gone back to something more sturdy?

Did you try staking it down better or adding extra guylines? I had a similar freakout with my first ultralight tent but once I got the pitch dialed in it actually felt way more solid in wind than my old heavy dome.

Totally agree, that same tent woke me up at 2am snapping in the wind and I spent the whole night paranoid about a tear. Went right back to my old heavy tent after that trip, the peace of mind is worth the extra pounds on my back.
