Worst camping trip ever because I forgot my sleeping pad at home
Honestly, last June I drove all the way to Lost Maples State Park in Texas without my sleeping pad. I was so tired after setting up camp that I just laid on the hard tent floor and woke up freezing and sore every 30 minutes. The temperature dropped to 48 degrees that night and the ground sucked all the heat out of me. Has anyone else had a trip ruined by one missing piece of gear?

woke up freezing and sore every 30 minutes" is the most accurate description of a bad night camping. I did the same thing at Garner State Park a few years back. Had a cheap foam pad that I thought would be fine. Nope. Ground was like a slab of concrete and I spent the whole night shivering and trying to find a comfortable rock. Ended up sleeping in my car the next night because my back was shot. Now I check my gear list three times before I leave the driveway.
