Got roasted on a forum for my PEX crimping and it actually helped
I posted a pic of my basement plumbing job on a DIY subreddit last month, just proud I got it done. Within an hour some guy commented about how my crimp ring was barely over the PEX barb and said I'd get a leak in 6 months. I was kinda mad at first but he linked a video showing the proper 1/8 inch gap rule. I went back and re-did 4 of my joints the next day, making sure the ring sat exactly right on the barb. Also learned my cheap crimper was leaving uneven pressure marks, so I borrowed a pro model from my neighbor. It was annoying to redo the work but now I actually sleep better knowing those connections won't blow out. Has anyone else had a random internet stranger save them from a future disaster?

A few years back I posted a picture of my DIY deck railing and someone pointed out my post holes were barely 18 inches deep when they should have been 36 for frost line where I live (upstate NY). I was so annoyed at first but dude was totally right, my fence would have tipped over after one winter freeze. Ended up digging them all out again with a manual post hole digger, absolutely brutal work, but that guy saved me from a collapsed deck and a huge headache.
