My buddy once derailed a poker game with moon landing denial. He started measuring shadows in photos on his phone. We were just trying to bluff over cheap beer. It got so quiet you could hear the fridge hum. Now we have a 'no conspiracy theories' rule. Makes game night much less awkward.

That "no conspiracy theories" rule sounds like a lifesaver. When your buddy started measuring shadows, did he at least realize he was killing the vibe? Or was he so into his thing that he didn't notice everyone had shut down? Some people just can't read the room at all.
