PSA: Why I let my son read about 5G theories

Ngl, most parents freak out if kids look into 5G conspiracies. I gave my son some articles and we talked about the science behind radio waves. He ended up doing a school project on how fear spreads online. Honestly, hiding this stuff just makes it more tempting to seek out.

Better to talk through wild claims with real science than to ban them.

Thought banning was easier tbh, saw some wild flat Earth stuff and just wanted it gone. But then I watched people calmly ask for proof and walk through the basic science, and those threads actually changed a few minds. Ngl, watching someone realize they're wrong because facts were laid out clearly, that hits different. Now I see letting the talk happen, with good info right there, is way stronger than just making it disappear.

Yeah, "watching someone realize they're wrong" is a good feeling. I used to jump in guns blazing too, until I saw my own old posts where I was totally wrong about something simple. Felt like a real idiot reading my own "confident" nonsense. Now I try to remember that before I type.
