The day I stopped believing the moon landing was faked was totally random

I used to be convinced the whole Apollo thing was a Hollywood set. About 6 months ago, I watched a livestream from an amateur astronomer in Texas who tracks satellites. He showed how you can calculate orbital paths using just a phone and some free software. That got me digging into the actual math behind translunar injection burns. Now I think the conspiracy theories rely way too much on ignoring basic physics. Has anyone else had their view flipped by a simple calculation?

Don't expect everyone to sit through a lecture on translunar injection burns at a backyard BBQ" - dude, speak for yourself, that's the kind of party I actually want to be at instead of hearing about Karen's gluten-free sourdough starter. But yeah, you're basically saying I traded one crazy obsession for another, which I guess is fair. At least this one has numbers you can check instead of "look at this shadow, it must be a studio light." I'm not trying to give lectures, just saying it clicked for me when I did the math myself. If that makes me a nerd, fine, I'll take that over thinking Stanley Kubrick directed astronauts.

Man, it sounds like you really went down a rabbit hole on this one. I mean, learning the math behind space travel is cool and all, but do we really need to turn a moon landing conspiracy into a whole science project? Seems like you traded one obsession for another. Most people just accept it happened and move on with their lives. But hey, if tracking satellites with free software makes you happy, more power to you. Just don't expect everyone to sit through a lecture on translunar injection burns at a backyard BBQ.
