My dad had this huge argument with his brother over Christmas dinner about digital cameras. He was going on about how film had a warmth you couldn't fake, and my uncle just kept tapping his new little Sony Mavica that saved pictures to a floppy disk. The whole thing felt so serious at the time, like the world was picking a side. Now you just use your phone and the idea of buying film seems kind of wild.

Wasn't that debate everywhere in the 90s?

Remember how every magazine cover in like '97 was about whether we should all go digital or stick with film? @quinn39, that felt like the last big fight before everything just tipped over. I had an uncle who swore by his darkroom, calling Photoshop a fad, while my cousin was already uploading these tiny web photos from a digital point-and-shoot. The noise in those camera forums was something else, people yelling about "soul" and "pixels" like it was a holy war. Now it's all settled and that whole fight just seems like a weird dream.
