A buddy told me my fuzz pedal sounded 'muddy' and he was right

I spent 3 months building this silicon fuzz face clone and thought it sounded killer. Then a guy at a local jam said my low end was just a mushy mess with no definition. I realized I had used a 100nF input cap instead of a 47nF like the original spec. Swapped it out last weekend and now the chords actually cut through clear. Anyone else have a build where one component swap totally changed the tone?

Oh man, that's such a classic move! It's wild how one little capacitor can turn a great idea into mud. I've noticed this same thing happens everywhere, not just with pedals. Like with cooking, you can follow a recipe perfectly but swap out one ingredient and the whole dish changes. Or even with how people talk, one wrong word can make a whole conversation confusing. It's like everything has these tiny pivot points that just completely shift the end result. Glad you got it sorted, those silicon fuzz faces are worth the tinkering.

My soldering iron has a personal vendetta against me, I swear.
