Had to pick between a $35 breadboard kit and a $120 pre-drilled enclosure for my first fuzz pedal

Went with the breadboard first since I wasn't sure I'd stick with it, and after 3 failed attempts I finally got a working circuit last night. Anyone else start cheap and regret not just buying the nicer gear upfront?

Did you ever accidentally touch a hot component and learn the hard way what 'solder splash' really means? I burned a hole in my favorite hoodie debugging a power supply once. Taught me that cheap gear doesn't always kill the hobby, but it definitely kills your clothes.

Read somewhere that some power supply caps can hold a charge for days after unplugging. Be glad it was just your hoodie and not something more important.
