Just dropped $22 on a single NOS germanium transistor and it totally fixed my fuzz build
My first Fuzz Face clone sounded weak and gated, and after swapping three $2 silicon options I gave up and bought one old germanium AC128 off eBay for $22 shipped. Dropped it in, biased it to 4.5v and the thing finally growls like it should, so that one part was worth more than the rest of the pedal combined. Anybody else got a build where one stupid expensive part saved the whole project?
