My fuzz pedal went from muddy to crystal clear after I swapped one resistor

I built this silicon fuzz face clone back in March and it always sounded like someone threw a blanket over my amp, but last weekend I swapped the 1k collector resistor on Q2 for a 1.5k and now it cuts through the mix like a knife, has anyone else gotten huge tone changes from one tiny part swap?

Resistors are way more finicky than people give them credit for. That little change probably dialed back some low end mud and let the mids breathe. One component swap can totally make or break a circuit.

It's funny you say that @theathomas, because I see the same thing with coffee grind sizes. People think it's a simple knob setting, but one tiny adjustment too fine and your whole morning is ruined with bitter over extraction. Too course and it's watery and sad. It's always the small stuff that has the biggest ripple effects, whether it's a resistor or how tight you crank down a bike stem bolt. People just want to blame things being "broken" instead of tweaking that one little piece.
