My reverb tank gave out mid-solo at an open mic in Portland
I was testing my spring reverb build at an open mic last Saturday when the tank just stopped making sound after the first chorus. It worked fine for two weeks at home, but the second I moved it to the venue, the input cable on the tank must have shifted and shorted the signal. I spent the break unscrewing the back panel and found the RCA jack had come loose from the vibration of the amp. I re-soldered it right there on the floor, but the whole set felt shaky after that. Has anyone else had tanks fail when you transport them, or should I add a locking connector next time?

That "loose RCA jack" thing happened to me too, but with an old Fender unit I used to haul around. I started putting a small zip tie around the cable right where it meets the jack, just to keep tension off the solder joint. It's not a fancy fix, but it stopped the problem cold and I never had to re-solder again.
