Random guy at a swap meet fixed my fuzz pedal with a paperclip
I was at this electronics swap meet in Austin last spring, trying to sell a fuzz face clone I built. The signal kept cutting out and this older dude walks over and just points at a cold solder joint on my input jack. He pulled a paperclip from his pocket, heated it with a lighter, and used it to reflow the joint right there. It worked perfectly after that and I still think about how he didn't even say a word, just handed me back the pedal and walked off. Anyone else have a stranger fix your gear with something random?

Sixth Street in Austin has this weird magic where random people just show up with the exact thing you need right when you need it. I saw a guy at a bus stop once use a safety pin to jumpstart someones dead Buick, no joke, just popped the hood, found the right wires, and had it running in two minutes. It's like the whole city runs on MacGyver energy and everyone carries a pocketful of random fixes waiting for a chance to shine. My theory is that every swap meet, bus stop, and coffee shop has at least one person who keeps a toolkit in their head made of paperclips, lighter fluid, and stubborn patience. You never see them coming, but they always know exactly what was wrong before you even finished explaining it.
