Soldered a pedal at 2am in a Detroit hotel room and the smoke alarm ratted me out
Was at a work conference in Detroit last spring and got bored, so I brought my half finished fuzz build and a cheap iron to mess with in the room. Around 2am I fired it up on the desk, and the flux smoke set off the little alarm right over the bed. I stood there waving a towel at it in my boxers while a guy from the front desk knocked and asked if everything was okay. Next trip I packed a tiny USB fan and a pillow to block the sensor, and now I always check where the smoke detector sits before I unpack. Anyone else got a hotel room build story or am I the only one who does this?
