Spent 4 hours chasing a hum in my Klon clone and it was the dumbest fix ever
Finished a Klon clone build last month and it had this nasty 60 cycle hum that I could not track down. I reflowed every joint, swapped the op amp twice, added shielded wire to the input, and even built a whole new power filter board thinking my supply was noisy. Turned out the output jack was touching the back of a pot just barely, like a hair of contact, and that was the entire problem. Four hours of my Saturday gone plus about $12 in parts I did not need. Has anyone else had a short you chased forever that ended up being some obvious mechanical thing?
Man, a hair of contact between the jack and a pot is the kind of thing that would drive me up the wall. It is wild how something that small can waste a whole afternoon when you are sure it has to be the circuit itself. At least you know now to check the dumb mechanical stuff first before touching the soldering iron.
