Unpopular opinion: that $180 soldering station was a waste of my money
My $30 iron from the hardware store did the same job on 40 pedal builds, so unless you're doing SMD work daily, save the cash and buy more capacitors, has anyone else felt oversold on fancy gear?

Why is it that I bought a fancy station and still manage to melt the insulation off my cheap probes? My buddy swears by his beat-up 25 dollar iron and his builds sound cleaner than mine, so maybe the gear was never the problem. Honestly, half of my expensive tools just end up as very classy paperweights.
