DAE think reviewers overhype battery life on laptops?

I keep seeing 'all-day battery' claims for new laptops, but my own test with a popular 14-inch model in Chicago only got 5 hours of real use, not the 12 hours promised, so are we just accepting marketing over real-world testing?

Totally feel you on that! I started checking YouTube for real world battery tests before buying anything now. Those lab results never match my actual use either.

Preach, Charles! @james995 you're totally right about those test settings being a joke. I bought a "15 hour" laptop once and it barely made it through two long meetings with Teams running, like not even close. YouTube reviewers are the only ones I trust anymore because they actually use the apps we all use, you know?

Ugh, tell me about it. My last laptop claimed 10 hours and died in three just running a browser and some docs. The test settings they use are a total joke, like minimum brightness and just playing a local video on loop. Real work murders battery life, and they just never admit it.
