My sister swore by the 'freeze your smart speaker' trick to fix a weird hum

I had to pick between a new smartwatch or a fitness tracker last month.

My old Fitbit died and I wanted something to track my runs. I looked at the Garmin Venu 3 and the cheaper Coros Pace 2. I went with the Coros to save money, around $200. It tracks distance and heart rate fine, but the screen is hard to read in direct sun. Anyone have a good watch for running that doesn't have that glare problem?

My smartwatch heart rate sensor just gave me a false reading during a run

I was out for a run last Tuesday when my watch buzzed and said my heart rate was 210 bpm. I felt fine, so I stopped and checked my pulse manually. It was actually around 140. I restarted the watch and it went back to normal, but it really shook my confidence in the data. I've been wearing it a bit tighter since then, which seems to help. My smart lock bricked itself at 2 AM and I was locked out for hours

So my fancy keypad lock on the front door just died last night. No warning, no low battery beep, nothing. I got home from a late movie and the screen was just black, wouldn't respond to the code or the backup key. Had to call a 24 hour locksmith in Phoenix, cost me $180 to get back in. The whole time I'm sitting on the porch thinking about how I paid extra for this 'reliable' tech. The locksmith said he sees this all the time with these newer electronic locks, especially after a firmware update goes wrong. Now I'm back to using a regular deadbolt. Anyone else have a smart home gadget fail so hard it made you go back to the old way?
