My old GPS unit from 2012 finally died on a run to Boise.
I used to rely on that thing and a paper atlas, now I just use my phone with a trucker-specific app. The switch happened about two years ago after a bad detour cost me half a day. What's the best navigation setup you've found for long trips?

Remember when a paper map sent me down a logging road in Montana.

Ugh, paper maps were the worst for that.

Oh man, paper maps were brutal for that! My dad once used one and we ended up on a road that was basically a creek bed in Colorado. @ivan_cooper that logging road story reminds me of the time I tried to follow a national park map and ended up in someone's private driveway for an hour.

Funny enough, I used to swear by paper maps too but after a similar wasted day in Wyoming I switched to a dedicated truck GPS. Just a Garmin with lifetime maps, no regrets.
