My old smartwatch bricked itself last Tuesday and I'm still annoyed

Honestly, it was a model from about 3 years ago that I got in Chicago. I was just sitting at my desk when the screen went black and it got super hot. I tried the reset combo the company lists online, but nothing. Customer support basically said it was a known firmware issue from an update last month and it's out of warranty. Now I've got a $200 paperweight. Has anyone else had a gadget just die from a bad update like that?

Yeah, that reminds me of what @jamierodriguez said... my buddy's car stereo got bricked by an update last year, same deal.

Remember when that big company bricked a bunch of thermostats with an update? It's wild how a simple software push can just kill a device. Makes you scared to update anything now, lol.
