Serious question, my buddy's new smartwatch review was just wrong

He got a new fitness tracker last month. Showed me his review online. Said the battery lasted 'a full week easy'. I borrowed it for a weekend trip to Portland. It died in under two days with normal use. His review got hundreds of likes. Makes you wonder how many other reviews are just people guessing. How do you even trust a review anymore?

My old rule for tech reviews is to check the one and two star ratings first. Those people actually used the thing and will tell you the real problems, like the battery.

Totally agree. That's where you find the real deal breakers.

Used to be the type to just skim the 5 star reviews and call it good. Figured the angry people writing bad reviews were just picky. Then I bought a blender off a ton of perfect ratings and it died in three months. Went back and read the 1 star reviews and sure enough, people were talking about the motor burning out after a few uses. Now I always check the low ratings first and its saved me from buying a couple laptops that apparently had hinges that snapped after a year. The 2 and 3 star reviews are the gold mine for real world stuff.
