That cheap USB-C cable I bought ended up frying my phone port
I bought a 3-pack of those no-name USB-C cables for like $8 on Amazon last month. They worked fine for charging my Galaxy S22 for about 2 weeks. Then I woke up one morning and my phone wouldn't charge at all. I checked the port and it smelled burnt and had a little black spot near one of the pins. My buddy who repairs phones told me the cables didn't have the proper 56k ohm resistor built in. Cost me $120 to get the charge port replaced. Has anyone else gotten burned by cheap cables like this?

Yeah @taylor_mitchell80, how do you even check if a cable has that resistor before buying it?

That whole cheap cable thing is just another example of how we're trained to go for the lowest price and then get surprised when the corners cut literally melt our stuff. It's like buying discount brake pads or off-brand phone chargers, you save a few bucks upfront and then pay way more later when something fails.
