Warning: That fancy $80 charging dock fried my phone battery
I bought one of those all-in-one charging docks for my desk 3 months ago because I got tired of cable clutter. It looked great and held my phone, watch, and earbuds all at once. But after about 6 weeks I noticed my phone battery was dying way faster than normal. Like I’d be at 30% by lunch when I used to last all day. Turns out the dock was trickle charging all night keeping my phone at 100% for hours, which kills lithium batteries over time. I checked the reviews again and saw a bunch of people in the comments complaining about the same thing but I’d skipped them. Now I’m back to using a cheap 10w charger and my battery health is stabilizing. Has anyone else had a wireless charger wreck their battery like this?

My old wireless charger got so hot it melted a phone case once. Lesson learned.

My buddy Mark actually had a similar thing happen last year with his Samsung charger. He left his phone on it overnight and woke up to a weird burning plastic smell, the case had a literal melted spot near the camera bump. @saraho48 it's wild how fast that happens, he didn't even notice until he touched the phone and it was hot to the touch. He still uses a wireless charger too, just keeps a closer eye on it now.
